Well, it's official... I've fallen off the wagon...

...the "healthy eating" diet wagon, that is.

I was doing so well. Six months in, and almost 60 pounds lost. I was exercising every day, sometimes twice, just walking, but at a moderate clip. And it was working.

So what happened?

Well, I woke up on the 5th of July with a sore right heel. I thought maybe I'd just bruised it, because I wore a pair of sandals for a lot of walking on the 4th (hey, they were Cole-Haan Nike Air-Sole, I thought I'd be OK). So I rested it for a few days, and it was feeling a bit better. So the following Monday, I took a little 2 mile stroll at the park.

Bad. Idea.

My foot really started aching, enough that I was limping around. I tried resting it for a week or so, but it didn't get any better. So I went to the doctor.

Diagnosis? Fractured right heel.

So now I'm in a boot, and I can't exercise the way I'm used to. I need to get something like a recumbent bike, and put it in front of the TV, so I can continue to work out. But I'm notoriously bad about exercise that doesn't involve a forced component (like walking X distance from the house, so I have no choice but to return). I tend to find excuses and stop early otherwise.

And my appetite? Much bigger, I think because exercise normally helps to curb appetite, and I don't have that. Oh, and the steroids? Not helping, even though I'm at a lower dosage than ever before. I do pretty good through the day, but I tend to bingebingeBINGE!!! late at night. And I tried having only those 100 calorie snacks in the house... but when you eat 5 or 8 of them? Not low cal in the least.

And I've gained back 6 pounds from my lowest, and am 2 higher than I was 1 month ago.

*cries*

And I've got a party at my bosses house today, complete with everyone's specialties, and then a "Going Away" party tomorrow for my goddaughter, and her mother is queen of the throw-downs! I just know I'm going to be another 2.2 pounds higher, which will put me over a milestone that I never wanted to pass again!!!

[Poll #1007053]

Decisions already made, but curious... )

In happier [livejournal.com profile] 50bookchallenge news, I just read another! I'm well behind where I need to be, but damn! I watch too many TV shows, and am trying to get caught up!

8.) Jonathan Livingston Seagull, by Richard Bach
I remembered reading this when I was much younger, and feeling like it was rather "mind expanding" for me at that age, so I decided to read it again. Got it from the local library. It clocks in at 93 pages, but I'd say that (conservatively) 20-30 of them are large, semi-impressionistic illustrations/photos. My Review ) A fast, but good read.

Update

I recently got an e-mail from [livejournal.com profile] qafbliss, asking how I was doing. I thought I'd post my answer, in case anyone else was interested.

The continuing saga... )

Bad News & Good News...

First, the Bad News:

The pathology results came back - positive for cancer.

Then, the Good News:

It was small, localized, and removed with clear margins through surgery.

It's been an up and down (or down & up) kind of day.

Good news...

None of the tests came back positive for cancer. There is one type that they can't test for (why? I don't know), but it's unlikely it's that. However, I still have to have surgery in August, because it's too big and affecting my airway a little.

But thank god, no cancer.
