I'm worried...

... my voice is getting pretty quiet, as in... no one who calls can hear me on the phone. And the S.O. can only hear me if he is right there next to me, and half the time he asks "what?"

One of my greatest fears was that something would happen to my voice. Especially that I wouldn't be able to sing. And now I can barely talk, can't cough, have trouble swallowing, and can't clear my throat.

I know it's only two days after surgery, and I'm no where near recovered... but I'm scared. If my voice doesn't come back, I won't be able to work, I'm the main breadwinner, I have no disability insurance, and then what will happen to the house & us?

Well, with the size of what they took out ouf you, I'd be surprised if you COULD talk 2 days later. Have some patience, let yourself heal!

DON'T PANIC. It's probably just your body trying to conserve. If you had it even a little after the surgery, I'm sure it will come back. It just needs a rest. I mean, I'd think if the surgery took it away, you'd have found out really fast right?

I agree, try not to panic and give yourself time to heal, it'll get better. *big hugs*

Did they tell you that your voice would be softer when you came home?
I am sure this is just side effect....do not panic!!! :)

*snuggles you* Awww. Give it some time, do everything you can, and try to relax, as hard as it may seem. If nothing else, worst BAD scenario, you could get disability, but it seems really early to be stressing about that yet.

It is scary! At the same time, I'm sure there is a lot of swelling right now. Give it some time. People lose their voice temporarily after a tonillectomy. This sounded much more intense. Relax. I feel sure everything will come out okay.
