I agree completely -- although I don't know if it's carried further in 511, being that I haven't seen the episode yet. It seems like a dramatic situation such as the club bombing is always the catalyst in causing a re-evaluation of a person's life.
I don't think Brian was acting OOC at all. Nearly everyone he cared about was almost blown to pieces by the bombing, and those people who want him to stay the same despite that need to get their heads checked.
