I just found out that on Saturday night, a female optometric physician was brought into a local emergency room - because she committed suicide by shooting herself. I'm not sure who she was yet, or what the circumstances were... but it's a bit freaky to have someone whose life should be very similar to mine decide that death was the only answer.

Plus, I know (at least peripherally) most of the female doctors in the area, and I want to know if it was someone I knew. I've called my 3 closest professional friends - it wasn't any of them (thank God!). They are as freaked as I am.

Checked the local papers on-line archives - there was only one young woman who was dead, no cause given, and I don't think I recognize the name...

It makes you rethink things when something like this happens.

As you may or may not know, a woman in a job situation similar to mine killed herself with a gunshot wound on Saturday. I'm still not sure who she is, and I know most of the women in my profession locally (at least peripherally).

What I just realized is this is a very basic instinct. On the savannah, if a lion attacks, the females huddle together later and clutch each other. Why? They want to make sure that their friends are OK, and reassure their friends (and themselves) that everyone is OK. And that is what we are doing. Huddling together after the attack of the (likely psychic vs physical) tiger.

We aren't that far from our roots.

Well, that's it. It's 10:15 pm or so, and I've been on the computer for a while. Nothing new is coming in, and I'm tired from making presents for the last few nights. Five hours sleep a night isn't enough to cut it at my age *sigh*. How it pains me to say that.

*sob*

I guess I've given up on any new posting from the B&J LJ's until tomorrow. Or no late night tonight... because I can't take it.

Although I've been given the option of coming in late tomorrow (working a half day) - for half pay. I might take them up on that.

*so tired*

There are sandbags on my eyelids...

I had a video saved as "gorgeous" - a WinRAR file. But it's corrupted. And it's QaF (or G/R).

Does anyone have it?

Please?

ETA: And there's one called "Hero", which I DL'd for QuickTime, but it can't load, so I need a new one.
