Well, I've decided not to sell my soul...

...to Walmart.
It could have been a good deal. A 6 day/wk contract, but with another friend of mine already working Saturdays, and potentially willing to work on Mondays or Thursdays. Which means I could have worked M-F, and potentially T-Fr. *sob*
But... I would have to be working for a very low per pt rate, and trying to make up for it in volume so that Walmart could make money. Charge more for exams = make more money seeing less patients. Charge half of what you do? See twice as many to make the same $$.
Now, I don't want to scalp people. I want to give good service for a good price. But that doesn't mean champagne for beer prices. It means a moderate amount for superior service. Plus, I'd have no staff control at Walmart. I'd be at their mercy, and the manager there is nice, very personable... and not present. She puts all the work off on her underlings, and they are all/have mostly quit. With the last 2 on their way out. So there would be extreme staffing issues which I would have no control over.
Not good.
Not to mention that I have surgery in a week, and stepping into that after the stress of recovery is probably not a good idea.
If I decide to sell my soul, I'll have to do it to a little better quality pimp - maybe Lenscrafters, Pearle Vision, or Costco. It's better to be a call girl than walk the street.
That being said, watch. I'll end up at America's Best (which makes Walmart look like Nordstroms...)

I'm definitely getting in touch with them...

I can't say enough about the evil that is Wal-Mart.
All good holistic wishes on a well-conducted and surgery. I had a tooth pulled in the last 5 years. It was wierd and it made me feel old and vulnerable.
The singing thing is scary to me -- woman who can't carry a note in a bucket with a lid -- but death is scary too.
Although I am ANTI surgery in most situations -- I'm probably even more anti-radiation and other bad stuff in your veins and other internal parts.
HUG.
