So, I was reading over at allie_quixotic's LJ about her new found love for Supernatural (SN). And it got me thinking... didn't I have that around somewhere? So I looked. And found:

1) Supernatural, Season 1
2) Veronica Mars, Season 1
3) Six Feet Under, complete 6 seasons
4) The L Word, Season 3 (think I watched this on TV)
5) Arrested Development, 3 seasons
6) Extras, Season 1

This doesn't count what I have to watch on the DVR, which includes like 32 hours of TV, including
* 12 episodes of Ugly Betty
* 4 of Lost
* 4 of Riches
* 5 of Jericho
* 3 of Desperate Housewives
* 5 of Dirt (think I''m bagging this one)
* 11 of Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip
* 1 of Dexter
* 2 of nip/tuck
* 4 of Weeds

Crap... that's like 49 hours. And I'm going out of town next weekend for a wedding, so no catching up then...

Somethings gonna have to give.

Oh, and the original reason for this post (other than my occasionally compulsive list-making)? To find out what you all thought of Supernatural!

I have yet to watch much of SPN. I've watched the first two episodes and was very 'meh' about it. I think a lot of the fandom (from what I've heard from fans) is attracted to the actors that play Dean and Sam and that is a huge part of the show. Apparently everyone knows the show is bad but they enjoy it for the brothers banter/supposed sexual attraction to each other as well as for the fandom meta jokes they throw in occassionally.

...erm? Which sexual attraction? I've seen quite a few eps, and (unfortunatly) I haven't seen any sexual attraction. lol Honestly those fangirls see things that aren't there!

I watch the show obsessively, and there is no sexual attraction. People like to wank it, and write fic about it, but it is most definitely not canon.

I will respectful disagree with that blanket statement. The show had a slow and admittedly formulaic start but it has improved since then, both in the writing and in the acting.

I can't really understand what's all that fuss people make over Supernatural. Ok, it's not bad, I like it, but I don't LUUUURVE it. The guys aren't bad looking either, but it's nothing to swoon over. I really can't see myself getting addicted to the show. QAF on the other hand ... The first time I saw that, I was completely smitten. That gave me such a WOW! feeling, Supernatural just got me thinking "not bad", but that's all. LOST gave me that WOW! feeling a bit also during the first series, but I completely "lost" it during the 2nd one. The only other show that gives me a bit of a WOW! feeling is Heroes at the moment, but I don't know if I'll still have that during the 2nd Season. Unfortunatly Heroes doesn't have one (or make that 2, lol) small detail that made me completely fell in love with QAF: Brian & Justin!

Queer as Folk (first 3 seasons) will always be my favourite, but Supernatural is coming pretty damn close! You need to watch at least the frst half of the first season to get into it IMO - then Wham!
The long story-line is just so good, and the brothers' interaction is incredible - a finely detailed examination of a male/male relationship that is not (necessarily *heh*) sexual or romantic but is just as intense. It never disappoints me.

Supernatural is a great show! Like any show it took some time for everyone to settle in, but mid-S1 things started to get really good, and S2 so far has been amazing. Yes, Jensen Ackles is adorable but he's also an excellent actor, and Jared's acting has improved a lot from S1 to S2.

Everyone has their opinions on things...for example, I didn't like either Lost or Grey's Anatomy even though every one else was kittens over them. I guess it depends on what is important to you as a viewer. To me, it's characters I can get behind and really care about. That's what made me a QaF fan even when Gale's acting was a little forced and the storylines were awful and I can't stand Hal Sparks...because Brian and Justin and Ted and Emmett made me care about what happened to them. The Winchesters are those kind of characters. Yes, I like the spooky stuff but it's the brothers and their relationship and their lives that keeps me watching.

I can't help but chuckle over the fact that you posted about watching SPN, because I was just thinking the other day that you need to put it at the top of your "to watch this spring/summer" list. And then here you are, asking about it. :)

Anyway, even though I know you know how I feel about it, I'll give you the standard spiel: Think The X-Files meets Route 66, with really really cute boys, the greatest snark/witty banter on television, a classic rock soundtrack, and the hottest car ever made, or well close to it.

Also, don't judge it by the pilot and the first few episodes, but you know how that is.
