41.) The Art of Racing in the Rain, by Garth Stein - 221 pgs
Is it possible for me to count the ways I love this book? I love the philosophical comments that are provided by Enzo, the narrator (and a dog looking back at his life). His yearnings to be human, trying to learn more so he can start off ahead in his next incarnation (which he's sure will be as a man), where he will get his most heartfelt wishes - opposable thumbs, and a facile tongue.

There are many lines in the book I love, resonate for me, and probably for a large number of people.

"That which we manifest is before us; we are the creators of our own destiny."

"Any problems that may occur have ultimately been caused by you, because you are responsible for where you are and what you are doing there."

"People, like dogs, love repetition. Chasing a ball, lapping a course in a race car, sliding down a slide. Because as much as each incident is similar, so it is different."

I highly, *highly* recommend this book to anyone. You will gain insights, and start looking at your pets, wondering what they are thinking.

42.)  Brokeback Mountain, by Anne Proulx - 64 pgs
I saw the movie, but reading the book?  Even better, they are more natural men, not as "beautiful" as the two actors portrayed them, but much more real.
