I'm starting to think all I am is doom & gloom

My best friend passed away on January 1st, after a long battle with lung cancer.  I was lucky enough to get to see her the Monday after Christmas.  Things were bad, she only had 1/2 of 1 lung, and had to use all her energy to breathe.  She was in her apartment at the time, but by Wednesday, she was in a Hospice House, and by Saturday... she died.

She told me she didn't expect the end to come so fast, that just two weeks before, she had been driving her car, going out to lunch with friends, and fucking her boyfriend.  Then a week after that she was on 24-7 oxygen, and two week later she was gone.

I had always thought we would be the two little old ladies living together in the end, in her old Victorian house in Berkeley.  I will miss her so.

Rest in peace, Lynette.

Not that it's much consolation, but at least it sounds like she didn't suffer for a long drawn out amount of time.
