A friend of a close friend is getting married. She & I tend to travel in the same circles when she's visiting the state. She announced a week ago that she was getting married on Thursday (tomorrow) to her fiance, here in WA. She had come for my goddaughter's graduation.

As I was leaving my goddaughter's BBQ (having had too much food, too much drink, and too little sleep the night before), my FOAF asked, "Can you make a necklace to match my dress?"

I didn't feel I could say no, and it WOULD be nice to have a reason to create again. So, of course, instead of just looking through the glass & other beads I have, and making something that would match, I had to take the jacket of the dress to the Bead Factory, and then match colors for Swarovski crystals. Because I am a geek that way.

Took pics, but it didn't come out so well when I tried to lay it flat on the scanner.

Suzie's Wedding Necklace - original design

Sketched at work, looking at the crystals available. Set this up, and then modified it after color mixing/balancing to the Working Design.

Design as originally planned for the necklace. Had to add a bead to the lower strand in the center, as it hung wrong without it.

Yeah, it does!

I got some 6 mm square Swarovski crystals, one in each color of the rainbow - red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet - and want to make a short necklace to wear to Pride this weekend. So that's what I'll be working on Friday & Saturday!

I've made a few things for special occasions, most notably my sister's wedding - a bracelet for her, then earring/bracelet combo's for the bridesmaid's gifts. If you click on the pic above, it should take you to the gallery of my jewelry.

I also have made a number of birthday & Christmas presents, as well as some stuff for myself. I just wish I had more time to do it!

That's really pretty. I can't even imagine what your jewelry box looks like. There must be so many beautiful things in there.

I read about the Pride necklace above. That's such a great idea. It should get lots of compliments for being so unique.

This is beautiful! You're extremely talented. :x:x:x

Also, did you send an invitation with Yahoo messenger? I'd love to add you on Y!M, but I wanted to be sure it's actually you before accepting...

Yeah, I updated to the new Messenger with Voice (even though I don't have a mic yet). You probably won't hear from me too much, as I actually usually forget to sign in. But I tend to go in at it in fits & starts.
